First Love

The cracked and crackling narrator of First Love who tells of how he met a woman on a bench, went back to live with her, and left her as she was giving birth to his child- has all the pertinacity of that bonedeep fatigue which gives Beckett’s decrepit figures their ruthless strength.  Christopher Ricks

The text of First Love was written intended to be read and is recited in its entirety with the kind permission of The Samuel Beckett Estate and in the USA with the kind permission of Georges Borchardt Inc.
